Sunburns Fact You Should Know About

Posted by Think Extraordinary on 6:18 AM 0 comments

With the July 4th holiday weekend almost here, it’s time to address the beauty issue that no one really wants to think about but is always a possibility: sunburn. We fully advocate using sunscreen on a daily basis, but unfortunately, sometimes those rays get the best of us and turn delicate skin bright red. In an effort to save our skin from the terrible pain that sunburn causes, here are a few tips on how to deal with the blistering pain, before and after the burn takes hold.

  • Red skin doesn’t always mean that you’re getting burnt, but since sunburn can take eight hours to fully develop, it’s a good indication that you should take refuge from the rays for a bit.
  • If you think you’ll be sunburned, immediately take aspirin or ibuprofen to reduce swelling.
  • Use cool or cold water to assuage the feeling of the burn.
  • Moisturize skin with calamine lotion and products including ingredients like aloe vera and vitamin E.
  • Unfortunately, no amount of moisturizing will stop the peel, but that doesn’t mean you should feel free to pick away!
